Mathilde Pauls picked up third place at East London Velo’s Winter Series race on Saturday Feb 16, with Michelle Arthurs-Brennan scooping fifth.
Results were hard fought, thanks to a small but incredibly top heavy field at the early season event (so early, we don’t have our team kit and had to race in incog black/white!).
The pair joined a breakaway, which went from the gun, gathering a punishing pace driven by Liv/AWOL’s Connie Hayes and Team LDN Elite category rider, Alica Speake.
Michelle was the second of the five breakaway riders to pop, losing contact at six laps to go and working with Rebecca Hair to the finish line, where the other rider proved to have the jump.
Mathilde was distanced by Connie and Alicia with a handful of laps to go, holding on for third place at the line.
Viv Tomlin also took to the start line, but lost contact earlier on after a tough week’s training (and moving house!)
All three were keen to get an early season race in, in preparation for the more pressing MK Bowl Women’s Team Series race, on March 16.
